ARIN Bits: September 2025

ARIN Bits: September 2025

As autumn arrives at ARIN HQ in Virginia and leaves begin to turn, we’ve been turning over new leaves of our own. July, August, and September brought a solid harvest of changes, upgrades, and outreach, and we’ve gathered the season’s key developments and upcoming opportunities.

This edition of ARIN Bits includes: How to get involved in our Public Policy and Members Meeting and ARIN Elections; updates to Point of Contact management and the Registration Services Agreement; this year’s grant recipients; industry events on our calendar; and more. So, settle in and let’s leaf through what’s been happening at ARIN and in our community this quarter.

Meet the Candidates - ARIN Elections

Get to Know the Candidates for the 2025 ARIN Elections

The 2025 ARIN Elections will fill three seats on the Board of Trustees, five seats on the Advisory Council (AC), and one seat on the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) for terms beginning 1 January 2026.

Elections for these seats will be held online from 3:00 PM ET on Thursday, 30 October, to 7:00 PM ET on Friday, 7 November.

The 2025 slate of candidates put forward by the Nomination Committee was announced on 16 September.

Participate in the Process

At this time, you can view a compilation of candidate biographies and questionnaire responses and submit Statements of Support for the candidates. Plus, all candidates for the Board, AC, and NRO NC are subscribed to the General Members Mailing List, where they are invited to share a personal statement about their candidacy with the voting community. If your organization is a General Member at ARIN and plans to vote this year, you’re encouraged to join the mailing list to stay up to date on ARIN Elections activity.

Watch the Candidate Forum

To learn more about the candidates running for the Board of Trustees and where they stand on the issues important to you and your organization, mark your calendars and tune in for the virtual Candidate Forum on Thursday, 16 October, at 2:00 PM ET. General Members are encouraged to register to attend the event via Zoom webinar at arin.net/candidateforum, and the whole community is invited to view the livestream on our YouTube channel during the event.

Ensure Voting Eligibility

To vote in the 2025 ARIN Elections, organizations must have been a General Member in Good Standing and had a designated Voting Contact with a valid ARIN Online account as of 15 September 2025. Voting Contacts can be updated until seven days before the elections; this year that deadline is 3:00 PM ET on Thursday, 23 October.

Participate in the ICP-2 Review Process

In August, the NRO NC published a revised version of the document that aims to update ICP-2: Criteria for Establishment of New Regional Internet Registries — the “Governance Document for the Recognition, Operation, and Derecognition of Regional Internet Registries” (RIR Governance Document). Feedback received from the consultation held on the first version of the draft document earlier this year was used to inform the revisions.

The NRO NC is now seeking community input on the revised draft to be reviewed during their upcoming workshop scheduled from 12 to 14 November 2025.

The consultation will remain open until 5:00 PM ET on Friday, 7 November 2025, and we invite you to provide feedback via ARIN’s ICP-2 Review mailing list.

Review the New Registration Services Agreement (RSA)

In August, we released an updated Registration Services Agreement (RSA). This version (14.0) replaces RSA Version 13.0. Organizations that are signatories to earlier RSA versions and are in good standing may choose to upgrade to version 14.0.

This version adds language to Section 13(c) to allow a customer to terminate the RSA if there is a change to the Service Terms that the resource holder believes materially and adversely impacts their rights or use of their Internet number resources. A redline showing this change is available here.

With the release of RSA Version 14.0, ARIN reaffirms its commitment to making our services as broadly available as possible under terms that are favorable to all organizations.

Understand Changes to Point of Contact Management

ARIN has suspended the ability to link to existing Points of Contact (POCs) via ARIN Online while we develop a more secure in-app verification process. This change improves POC management security and ensures critical Internet resources are protected by stronger authentication controls.

If you need to link your ARIN Online account to an existing POC, you now have two options: Contact ARIN support or use alternative methods. Read the blog post to learn more about these options, why POC management matters, best practices for POC management, and more: Strengthening Security for Point of Contact Management.

Learn About the 2025 Community Grant Program Recipients

Now in its seventh year, the ARIN Community Grant Program provides funding for projects that improve the Internet and make positive contributions to the Internet community in the ARIN region. We recently announced the three projects that have been selected to receive a grant this year. You can learn more about the work they plan to do in this post on the blog.

If you’re interested in applying for a grant next year, we will issue a call for applications in the spring of 2026. Information on how to apply will be shared on our ARIN Community Grant Program page and via the ARIN Announce mailing list once the application period opens.

ARIN on the Road/ARIN Deep Dive

Tell Us Where to Take ARIN on the Road in 2026

ARIN on the Road made its last stop of 2025 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on 18 September, and we want to hear from you where in the ARIN region you’d like us to take our traveling workshop next year!

Attendees get to experience our amazing community in person, learn more about ARIN, and explore what we can offer their organizations. Plus, ARIN staff are on site to answer questions about IPv6 deployment and IPv4 status, discuss Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) and routing security, provide an intro to the Policy Development Process, and more.

Get Technical at ARIN Deep Dive

On 19 August, we hosted the inaugural ARIN Deep Dive — a new, specialized training event focused on ARIN’s technical services such as RPKI. Read the blog post about the free workshop that allowed attendees to move beyond theory and directly apply the knowledge gained in a live setting.

We look forward to hosting future Deep Dives as part of our popular ARIN on the Road events. Keep an eye on the ARIN Events Calendar to see if we’ll be in your area in 2026, and subscribe to the ARIN Announce mailing list to be the first to know when we announce upcoming dates!

Want to see us head your way and think your area could benefit from an ARIN outreach event? Let us know at meetings@arin.net.
