Discussion highlights:
- This proposal language is too complicated and moves away from the idea of simplifying policy

Presentation: PDF

Background
- Advisory Council shepherds: Tina Morris and David Huberman
- Introduced on PPML in June 2015 (ARIN-prop-219)

- Staff and Legal assessment
- This policy may require coding changes to support unicode character sets, which could extend the time needed to implement
John Curran introduced Tina Morris who presented the rationale for the proposal and solicited feedback.
- This would clarify the status of ARIN-registered resources that are used outside the ARIN region
- Community support was garnered at ARIN 36, and there has been no discussion since it was moved to recommended policy
- Solicited feedback on this proposal
Aaron Hughes, ARIN Board of Trustees, moderated discussion.
Discussion highlights:
- Though this policy was supported, why hasn’t this moved to adoption?
- How many of the criteria will need to be provided to staff for them to approve requests under this policy?
- It should be clear how many of these requirements must be met rather than leaving it to staff discretion
For discussion details, please see the transcript.
