ACSP Suggestion 2015.18: Sort Order For Utilization reports from RESTful Whois
Suggestion
Author: Owen DeLong
Submitted On: 03 December 2015
Description:
Utilization reports from RESTful whois should be sorted in IP Numeric order, not ASCII order
e.g. https://whois.arin.net/rest/org/ARIN/pft?s=ARIN
Note that the order displayed is 100, 104, 107, 108, 12, 13, 173, …
Value to Community: It is very hard to follow the current sort order because 224 comes after 1, 10, and 139, but comes before 3, 35, etc. The desired behavior is akin to the UNIX sort utility invoked as sort (current behavior) vs. sort -n (desired behavior).

We agree the sort order on returned IP addresses on a Whois-RWS query can be improved. We plan on adding it to the list of outstanding projects awaiting prioritization found at: https://www.arin.net/features/planned.html
Thank you for participating in the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process. Your suggestion will remain open until implemented.
