ACSP Suggestion 2021.20: Improve Usability of Reverse DNS Management in ARIN Online

Suggestion

Description:

Why is it SO HARD to find where to make rDNS record changes on the ARIN website?!?!?! As it stands, managing rDNS is a well hidden function on your website buried in an Action menu that one would expect to find only block level functions - not require further searching for the exact same address space that I already searched for!

When I search for a specific /24 block using the aptly named “Search - View and your networks” function and check the check box to include “the 129 networks you’ve reassigned in your search” and I see the results, I should be able to manage the rDNS for the block found and displayed on the search results. However, I can’t!! I’m expected to click on the parent block, click on the Action menu on the parent block and then search AGAIN for the address block that I want to manage rDNS for!!

Manage Reverse DNS at the parent block level is a completely different function than the other Actions listed that are more logically associated with tasks that could be performed on the parent block.

Value to Community:

Simplify access to the VERY common task of managing rDNS that is usually done at the /24 address range. As it stands - this function is well hidden in a very non-intuitive location.

Managing rDNS should be a sub-item under IP Addresses in the left side menu or even better a top level function just like IRR Object Records is!!
