Who’s Leading the Charge for IPv6 in the Caribbean?
Year-Over-Year Progress
The latest data from 2024 reveals significant progress and shifts in the IPv6 adoption landscape across the Caribbean. Saint Barthelemy, Puerto Rico, and Dominica continue to lead the charge, increasing their IPv6-capable percentage of traffic year-over-year and maintaining their top three spots in the ranking. Just behind them is French Guiana, which jumped up in rank by 18 positions thanks to a significant 26.13 percentage point increase in IPv6 traffic capability.
Similarly, The Bahamas has experienced a marked improvement in rank — 10 positions — thanks to a 4.87 percentage point increase in IPv6 traffic capability, and Anguilla has jumped up five positions with its 9.64 percentage point increase. These changes indicate a robust commitment to IPv6 deployment.
Conversely, 10 countries have seen a decline in their IPv6 traffic capability — some by double digits and one by more than 20 percentage points. It’s crucial to acknowledge these shifts and identify and address the specific challenges faced by these particular areas to ensure future progress.
