Catch Up on Everything from ARIN 54
ARIN 54 was held 24-25 October in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and online. If you were unable to attend, missed a session, or would like to refer back to anything that was shared, you can view the ARIN 54 Meeting Report, which includes videos, transcripts, presentations, and daily recaps. And a big thank you to everyone who participated in making the meeting a success!
We’re already gearing up for ARIN 55, which is scheduled for 27-30 April 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Registration will open soon, and we hope to see you there either virtually or in person!
Read About ARIN’s Holiday Toy Drive
This holiday season, ARIN proudly rekindled its tradition of supporting families in need by organizing a toy drive in partnership with local nonprofit Northern Virginia Family Service. Read the blog post to learn about the initiative that inspired employees to join together and donate gifts for children of all ages: ARIN Organizes Holiday Toy Drive for Local Families.
IRR Auto-Manager Introduced to ARIN Online
In the latest version of ARIN Online, released on 2 November, we introduced the IRR Auto-Manager in ARIN Online. Full details regarding this change can be found in a previous announcement here, and additional details and instructions can be found here.
This feature allowing automatic creation of managed Internet Routing Registry (IRR) route objects upon Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) Route Origin Authorization (ROA) generation resulted from community feedback provided through the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process (ACSP). To be notified of future community consultations on important topics like the development and prioritization of service upgrades, join the ARIN-Consult mailing list.
Complete the Legacy Registration Services Agreement Request Process by 31 December
As of 31 December 2023, ARIN stopped accepting requests for a Legacy Registration Services Agreement (LRSA) and legacy fee cap. Throughout 2024, we have worked with customers to complete the requests that we were unable to process before the end of 2023. Because these requests were submitted in 2023, the organizations have been permitted to complete these transactions and sign an LRSA, as well as maintain the benefit of the legacy fee cap.
The grace period to complete these requests will end on 31 December 2024, at which time all remaining uncompleted requests for an LRSA and legacy fee cap will be closed. Organizations that are unable to complete the request process and sign an LRSA prior to 31 December will need to submit a new ticket to request an ARIN Agreement. All legacy resources brought under agreement from 1 January 2025 forward will be covered under the regular Registration Services Plan fees with no fee cap.
If you have any additional questions, contact the ARIN Registration Services Department via your ARIN Online account or by calling +1.703.227.0660 during our open hours.
Prepare for Deprecation of Outdated SSL and TLS Versions
On 3 February 2025, ARIN will deprecate the outdated versions of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) and will begin only using TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 protocols across all our services. Ensure that all your applicable software supports TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 protocols by 3 February to avoid losing connectivity to ARIN services.
Read the 90-day notice of this change for more information.
ARIN Makes Second Contribution to IETF Endowment
In 2016, the ARIN Board of Trustees approved contributing up to US$2 million to the Internet Society’s Endowment for Sustainability of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF Endowment), created to provide the IETF with direct financial support aimed at ensuring long-term, sustainable funding for the development, evolution, and use of open Internet protocols. An initial contribution of US$1 million was made in July 2016 in coordination with contributions from other Regional Internet Registries and the Internet Society.
In a demonstration of ARIN’s continued support for the work of the IETF and the thousands of volunteer contributors from around the world who work to develop and maintain the open protocols that make the Internet possible, the ARIN Board of Trustees voted in October 2023 to approve a gift of the remaining pledged funds. ARIN made this second US$1 million contribution to the IETF Endowment in November 2024.

Reminder: General Member Voting Requirements and Reclassification
General Members are required to vote in an ARIN Election at least once every three years to maintain their status. After each annual election General Members that did not cast a ballot in any of the previous three ARIN Elections revert to Service Member status. On 18 November 2024, ARIN reclassified 426 General Member organizations that did not cast a ballot in the 2022, 2023, or 2024 ARIN Elections.
If your organization is interested in participating in ARIN Elections, visit our Membership page to learn how you can request or reinstate General Member status (if your organization is current on all invoices) using your ARIN Online account.

A Tip From Our Registration Services Department
Q: Why is my ARIN Online account locked?
A: If you’ve recently tried to log in to your ARIN Online account after a long period of inactivity only to find that it is locked, you might be wondering what caused the issue. The most likely reason is a security measure implemented by ARIN.
Read our recent blog post to find out what happened, what verification involves, and why this new process is necessary: Why Is my ARIN Online Account Locked?
