Meet the Candidates in ARIN Elections

Get to Know the Candidates for the 2024 ARIN Elections

This year we have an additional open seat to fill on the ARIN Board of Trustees, the final addition in the phased expansion to nine elected Trustees. So, the 2024 elections will fill three full-term Board seats. For the Advisory Council (AC), there are five full-term seats to fill. The election for the ARIN region representative to the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) will be for one full-term seat. All those elected this year will serve terms beginning 1 January 2025.

Elections for these seats will be held online from 3:00 PM ET on Thursday, 24 October, to 7:00 PM ET on Friday, 1 November.

The 2024 slate of candidates put forward by the Nomination Committee was announced on 10 September.

Participate in the Process

At this time, you can view a compilation of candidate biographies and questionnaire responses and submit Statements of Support for the candidates. Plus, all candidates for the Board, AC, and NRO NC are subscribed to the General Members Mailing List, where they can answer questions from the voting community. If your organization is a General Member at ARIN and plans to vote this year, you’re encouraged to join the mailing list to participate in the dialogue with candidates and stay informed of ARIN Elections activity.

Watch the Candidate Forum

To learn more about the candidates running for the Board of Trustees and where they stand on the issues important to you and your organization, mark your calendars and tune in for the virtual Candidate Forum on Wednesday, 16 October, at 2:00 PM ET. General Members are encouraged to register to attend the event via Zoom webinar at arin.net/candidateforum, and the whole community is invited to view the livestream on our YouTube channel during the event.

Ensure Voting Eligibility

To vote in the 2024 ARIN Elections, organizations must have been a General Member in Good Standing and had a designated Voting Contact with a valid ARIN Online account as of 9 September 2024. Voting Contacts can be updated until seven days before the elections; this year that deadline is 3:00 PM ET on 17 October.

Familiarize Yourself with Upcoming Fee Schedule Changes

The ARIN Board of Trustees adopted a revised Registration Services Plan (RSP) fee schedule, following a Community Consultation that concluded on 3 May 2024. In pursuit of a sustainable fiscal strategy, this schedule reflects a structured approach to annual RSP fee adjustments. (It is important to note that this fee schedule change only applies to the RSP fees and does not affect the pricing of transactional fees.)

In conformance with the new RSP fee schedule, the Board of Trustees approved a 5 percent increase in RSP fees for 2025. The 5 percent increase in RSP fees applies to invoices due on or after 1 January 2025.

Learn more in the announcement of this change and view the 2025 Registration Services Plan Categories and Fees here.

If you have questions, please contact fee-inquiries@arin.net or submit them via Ask ARIN while logged in to your ARIN Online account.

ARIN RPKI

Prepare for Integration of ARIN’s RPKI and IRR Services

In the software release scheduled for 4 November, ARIN plans to implement new features in ARIN Online that will provide tighter integration of ARIN’s Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) and Internet Routing Registry (IRR) routing security services. These improvements are informed by the community consultation that closed on 20 September 2023.

View the announcement of these improvements to read about the specific features planned for deployment in ARIN Online and in our API for Hosted RPKI, including automatic creation of managed IRR route objects upon RPKI Route Origin Authorization generation.

Get started by learning the steps to use ARIN’s Hosted RPKI service — including understanding key pairs, RPKI components, and how to create your ROA — in our free on-demand webinar: Enhance Your Routing Security Using ARIN’s Hosted RPKI.

Get Ready for Upcoming Changes to Cryptographic Feature Support

Historically, ARIN has allowed the use of a wide range of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) algorithms to enable secure, encrypted communication between our customers and services. As of 3 February 2025, ARIN will deprecate the outdated versions of SSL and TLS and begin only using TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 protocols across all our services.

Learn more about this change and plans for future updates in the announcement shared on 1 August 2024.

Learn About the 2024 Community Grant Program Recipients

Now in its sixth year, the ARIN Community Grant Program provides funding for projects that improve the Internet and make positive contributions to the Internet community in the ARIN region. We recently announced the two projects that have been selected to receive a grant this year. You can learn more about the work they plan to do in this post on the blog.

If you’re interested in applying for a grant next year, we will issue a call for applications in the spring of 2025. Information on how to apply will be posted to our ARIN Community Grant Program page, and we will send out an email via the ARIN Announce mailing list once the application period opens.

Tell Us Where to Take ARIN on the Road in 2025

ARIN on the Road made its fourth and final stop of 2024 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on 24 September, and we want to hear from you where in the ARIN region you’d like us to take our traveling workshop next year!

Attendees get to experience our amazing community in person, learn more about ARIN, and explore what we can offer their organizations. Plus, ARIN staff are on site to answer questions about IPv6 deployment and IPv4 status, discuss Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) and routing security, provide an intro to the Policy Development Process, and more.

If you would like to see us head your way and think your area could benefit from an ARIN outreach event, let us know at meetings@arin.net.

Here’s a tip from RSD

A Tip From Our Registration Services Department: IPv4 Transfer Preapprovals

Is your organization planning on receiving IPv4 addresses via an 8.3 and/or 8.4 transfer but hasn’t identified the source yet? Does your organization anticipate submitting multiple transfer requests over the next two years? If you answer yes to either of these questions, you may benefit from requesting transfer preapproval.

A transfer preapproval allows your organization to qualify for your anticipated 24-month projected amount of IPv4 addresses. Once preapproved, you can submit as many 8.3 and/or 8.4 transfers as needed until the preapproved amount is reached.

A transfer preapproval is particularly useful if you plan to submit multiple transfers simultaneously. It ensures that your organization qualifies for the total requested amount and allows for the approval of each transfer individually, with each one deducted from your preapproved balance.

Please visit our Submitting a Transfer Preapproval Request page for more information.
